I have gone back to graduate school as a post-masters student of clinical counseling. My goal is to bridge all my passions together as an advocate, educator, coach, consultant to bring mental health support to families in their childbearing years. I am enrolled at Bowie State University working on the advanced coursework necessary for Maryland State Board of Health credentialing as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. There will be a few years of supervision and many exams to successfully master before I can provide services independently as a community mental health provider. I look forward to offering fee-for-service support while under supervision next year. Until then, friend, please be sure to continue following along with me and advocating for your goals! Remember, informed choice and consent matter. Stay mindful, vigilant, educated and seek help when needed to better serve yourself, your family and community. Love and Peace to You All!
Note: Availability for Coaching and Doula Support will be Limited to Summer 2019. The Charles County Commissioners established the Commission for Women in 1996 by Resolution #96-34 to better define and identify services needed for women in the County. We have a total of 15 members, appointed by the County Commissioners for up to four-year terms. I am pleased to join the W.E. Matters (Women's Empowerment Matters) and Legislative Committees. Our Mission: The Commission works to raise awareness of issues affecting women and families by serving as a conduit between women and existing services and advocating for programs, education and legislation. Learn More to Advocate for Women & Families! https://www.charlescountymd.gov/commissioners/boards/commission-women I have been on maternity leave for quite some time now and closed my business to take care of my growing family. In the midst of this wonderful and welcomed change, I was invited to become a School Counselor for Charles County Public Schools in Maryland. I gladly took on the role for the last 1.5 years. The growth in my family, career and mindset have been huge. In reflecting on my priorities, advocacy for family, child and maternal health have been at the forefront of my spirit's calling. So I have voluntarily left my position to resume care of my family, personal well-being and community activism while continuing my training/education in the field of holistic health/wellness. I plan to continue work as a substitute teacher in the county while building up my childbirth education offerings. For the time being, back up or postpartum doula support will be offered on a limited availability (no birth support available). I sincerely appreciate all the love and support my friends, family, colleagues and neighbors have provided to us and hope to pay it forward one day at a time. Keep showing up, using your powers for good and loving the heck out of this world. Remember who we are leaving this all to after we are gone. Oh, and VOTE. :) #MaternalHealthMatters
